WELCOME BACK.
I hope you checked out the blogs I suggested during my week off from school, work and responsibility. In case you were wondering, the answer is; "No, I did not go on spring break,"says Kari with a heavy heart, but a happy bank account.
However, staying in-town for a school break does not mean your time off has to boring! There is a common misconception about spring breaking. Everyone associates having a true vacation as the ideal, and staying in town as a complete failure.
I love to travel, so it can be hard to see friends on Facebook living it up in the tropics. Although, I can proudly admit that I had a quality spring break in Illinois.
The highlight of my week long vacation is what I will be sharing with you today!
While I typically only post about opportunities in Aurora, I thought it would be fitting to share my own spring break excursion. The location might not be in Aurora, but it is only seventeen miles away from campus! Therefore, as the creator of this blog, I decided to give myself a little artistic freedom. Go Kari.
Last Tuesday, I had the opportunity to visit iFly in Naperville, Illinois. IFly is an indoor skydiving facility that is an awesome way to get the feeling of flight, without jumping from 13,000 feet. (Yikes)
Take a look at the video below to see what this new craze is all about.
If you couldn't tell from the video, I had the BEST time at iFly. Honestly, it will be one of those rare moments that I will remember forever. Indoor skydiving was an awesome experience for me as a beginning flyer. I cannot say that I am now 100% game to take on real skydiving, but it was great to get my feet wet and see what floating on air is really like.
Something that I will mention is that it is harder than it looks! Some individuals are just natural-born athletes at anything they try, but sadly I am not one of those people. It is important to stay focused and watch for your instructor’s hand signals.
For the package I received, I got 4 minutes of flying time that was broken up into 2 separate flights. This amount of time may not seem like a lot on paper, but while you are in that wind tunnel it feels a lot longer as a beginner.
Remember, if you are not soaring like a bird during your first 2 minutes - don't sweat it! This experience should be fun, NOT competitive. Just relax, have fun and get your money's worth.
As far as prices go, I will say that this entertainment opportunity isn't exactly budget friendly for a college student. However, it is much cheaper than traditional skydiving or a spring break getaway to Ibiza. I recommend saving up your money and giving it a try! Save that 10 dollars you were going to spend on your bi-weekly Chipotle and you will be flying in no time.
For additional information about iFly, visit their website. The iFly website includes important information like pricing and booking your flight. Also, you can view seasoned flyers in action.
Thank you for visiting Campus Meets Community! Stay tuned for next weeks post.
