Perfect Pizza In 160 Seconds? Rise Pies Experience

Let's talk about PIZZA.
While this Campus-Meets-Community-approved restaurant may not be in your AU backyard, remember getting there is half the fun.
Rise Pies Handcrafted Pizza is nestled in the new addition of Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora, IL.
If you live on campus, Rise Pies is 9.7 miles away from Aurora University. Not really walking distance, but an easy commute by car.
When I first discovered Rise Pies this September, I was intrigued by their tag line. It stated: “Pizza Perfection in 160 Seconds.”
Now I’ll admit, I had eaten pizza cooked in 160 seconds. However, that pizza was usually reheated delivery from the night before. But fresh, tasty and affordable pizza made in 160 seconds? That sounded too good to be true.
However, I pride myself on never judging a pizza without a proper taste test. And with that being said, I gave it a shot and was so happy that I did.
This past Sunday afternoon, I made my way back to the outlet mall to expose my friend to this so-called "pizza perfection." I brought my great friend, and fellow blogger, Kristen Henningson along for a second opinion—and a second pizza. *genius*
At Rise Pies, you can build your own pizza or choose from classic and specialty creations listed on the menu. The set up of the restaurant is similar to Chipotle and Subway. All employees stand behind the counter, with glass covering the fresh ingredients.
As we were waiting our turn to order, I was attracted yet again to mouthwatering smells that welcomed us in. Not a bad way to start our lunchtime adventure.
After one last look at the overhead menu, I decided to go with the classic Margherita pizza, while Kristen opted for the big fat GREEK pizza!
I was happy to see my food treated with care as it was passed down the assembly line. After the final sprinkle of oregano, my pizza went into the brick oven. And 160 seconds later, it was finished.
To my delight, the pizza was just as awesome the second time. The crust was thin and crisp, but topped with fresh, flavorful ingredients. Every pizza at Rise Pies is served on a ten-inch crust. They are the perfect size to eat by yourself or share with your best friend.
My Margherita pizza with a regular sized fountain coke came out to $9.74, plus tax.
In 2016, it can be hard to keep your eating experience under ten dollars. As a college student, this is not an everyday eating option for me, but it is a reasonable price for treat on the weekend.
Rise Pies is totally worth the 9.7 mile drive from AU. The pizza may not be as hardy as a standard Chicago-style, but the fresh ingredients, reasonable prices and fast service make this pizza experience stand out.
