Welcome to Campus Meets Community.

I’m Kari Huizenga.

Thank you for visiting my blog! In a nutshell, Campus Meets Community is an extension of my own college experience as a student in a new, and unfamiliar location.

After transferring to Aurora University in the fall of 2014, I was alone to explore the city of Aurora and grow with each new experience. As wildly intimidating as it was to leap out of my comfort zone, it was a gratifying opportunity. It was an opportunity that pushed me to discover interesting locations and cost-friendly options for my college budget.

As a communication major in my final semester of college, I am excited to begin my senior capstone! This project is Campus Meets Community, a travel and lifestyle blog for current and incoming college students at Aurora University.

Before I embark on this educational and creative journey, I want to provide a brief overview of the types of blog posts that will launch every Monday on Campus Meets Community.

__

1. Entertainment/Lifestyle

Aurora has plenty of entertainment options for a night out on the town or a relaxing Sunday afternoon. I will see a show at the Paramount Theatre, explore downtown Aurora's “First Fridays" and search for fun adventures for hard-working college students to enjoy on their free time.

As a fashion lover, I will also find cost-efficient clothing items for students in need of dress clothes for an interview or special event. You do not need a lot of money to look like a million bucks.

2. Food

We all love to eat and not break the bank. Aurora has unique and tasty restaurants to match your food cravings and college budget.

I will be visiting different eateries, sharing reviews and stuffing my face for the good of the blog. It is a burden I will have to endure, but I am willing to make this sacrifice for the good of my assignment.

3. School/Volunteer

Campus Meets Community involves growing as a student and a person.

Volunteering and getting involved in your community will enhance your resume and open you up to gratifying experiences. I will share ways to give back, and speak with other students and faculty about how to get involved.
